Sheri Grace Wenger - Artistic Director & Founder
Sheri Grace Wenger has been an actress, director and drama teacher since the mid-70’s. Sheri founded Sheri Grace Productions in 1989, and Midtown Theatre in 1998. As a director, Sheri’s favorite productions include her original musicals: Rock’n’Roll Heaven, Women With Attitude, Soul Of The 60’s and Broadway Divas. Other favorites include: Master Class, A…My Name Is Alice, Little Shop of Horrors, Cabaret, and Picasso At The Lapin Agile. In 2007, Sheri and her son, Ryan Ahlert, opened The Charleston Acting Studio, offering classes and live theatre on James Island. Midtown is now operating in North Charleston. Sheri was the recipient of the 2013 & 2015 Theatre Charleston Awards for Outstanding Director of a Musical and produced all of Midtown's award-winning shows in 2013, 2014, & 2015: Driving Miss Daisy, Tell Me on a Sunday, Orphans, Steel Magnolias, Pippin, Shirley Valentine, Always...Patsy Cline, & 4,000 Miles.
Ryan Ahlert - Co-Founder, Creative Director, Technical Director & Production Designer
Ryan Ahlert is the Co-Founder & Creative Director of The Charleston Acting Studio. He also designs sets, sound, lighting, & posters for Midtown & has directed many productions as well (Reefer Madness , 5 Guys Named Moe, Duck Hunter Shoots Angel). Ryan has a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from the College of Charleston & has worked on nearly every stage in the Lowcountry. Favorite performances include Wild Party, Pippin, & Godspell. Ryan is also an experienced theatre educator, having served as the head of the Drama Department at First Baptist High School (2004-2008) & Primary Acting Instructor at the Charleston Acting Studio. Ryan was the recipient of the 2013 Theatre Charleston Awards for Outstanding Sound & Outstanding Lighting Designs.
Andrea Evans - Director of Marketing, Website Designer, & Box Office Manager
Andrea has been involved in theatre since she was 10 years old. She has a BA in Theatre from UNC-Greensboro, which she put to good use teaching kids in Thailand and India. Since settling in Charleston, she has built a career as an administrative assistant with a knack for graphic design and marketing. By day, she works at the College of Charleston in the Department of History. An active behind-the-scenes person in the thriving Charleston theatre scene, Andrea has found her home at Midtown Productions. Their policy of all-inclusive community involvement, as well as their commitment to producing great theatre, has made working with them an absolute inspiration and joy. Go Team Midtown!
Kristen Bushey - Costume Designer
Kristen Bushey holds a BA in Theatre with emphasis in Acting and Costume Design from the College of Charleston. She is the co-founder of Charleston Costume Design & Rental, which costumes theatrical productions all over Charleston. Named Outstanding Costume Designer at the 2013 Theatre Charleston Awards, Kristen has designed costumes for Midtown since 2011. She has also served as the Operations Manager for The Charleston Acting Studio where she managed the education program and all box office operations. In her spare time, Kristen is a local actress having performed in Brooklyn Boy, Shorts! Fun-Size Theatre, A Midsummer Night's Dream, A Lie of The Mind, Road to Nirvana, and Balm in Gilead.
Leah Megli - Music Director, Voice, Piano, & Class Instructor
Leah Megli is a recent transplant to Charleston from Bloomington, IL, where she graduated with a BME from Illinois Wesleyan University. Having studied collaborative piano under Dr. Kent Cook and Mrs. Eva Ferguson, and voice under baritone John Musick and soprano Saundra DeAthos, Mrs. Megli has held accompanist positions at Illinois State University and now at Charleston Southern University. Mrs. Megli has played for numerous choral and dramatic productions at local high schools and has appeared as Eponine in Les Miserables, Mrs. Paroo in The Music Man, Larkin in Once Upon a Mattress, and Eliza Doolittle in Pygmalion. In addition, she has the privilege of singing with the Taylor Festival Choir, accompanying the Singers of Summerville and performing with her husband, Daniel, an operatic baritone.
Chee-Hang See - Music Director & Pianist
A faculty member at the Charleston Academy of Music, Chee-Hang See is a prize-winning pianist who has been called "a cool and confident performer" by the Charleston City Paper. He has performed in concert series all over the U.S and has soloed with the Toa Payoh West Chinese Orchestra in Singapore, Bela Bartok Orchestra in Perugia, Cleveland Institute of Music Chamber Orchestra, and many others. His debut album “Violin Transcriptions”, featuring works by Rachmaninoff and Muczynski, was released in 2014. Chee-Hang received a Master’s degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music. Previously, he graduated summa cum laude from the College of Charleston where he was also awarded an Artist Certificate in Piano Performance. He also received Piano Performance and Accompaniment diplomas from the Royal Schools of Music and Trinity College in London. http://cheehang.weebly.com
