Mission Statement:

The mission of Midtown Productions is to entertain, inform & educate, thereby enriching the cultural life of the greater Charleston area; to provide area residents the opportunity to attend & participate in quality presentations of theatrical works; and to provide education in the theatre arts to adults & children, with special focus on scholarships for students with low-incomes & special needs. In meeting these goals, Midtown Productions is mindful of the standards of its audiences, & maintains fiscally sound management.

Midtown Productions:
Midtown Productions has been a mainstay on the Charleston theatre scene since 1989, making a name for itself with cabaret & dinner theatre at The Colony House & Cavallaro restaurants. Founded by Sheri Grace Wenger, early productions include: Always...Patsy Cline, Rock ‘n’ Roll Heaven, Cabaret, Little Shop of Horrors, Steel Magnolias, Pump Boys and Dinettes, Women With Attitude, Soul of the 60’s and Broadway Divas. Over the last 30 years, Midtown has grown to become a multi-award winning,
501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization known for its high-caliber works & knack for nurturing new local talent.

Midtown Theatre & The Charleston Acting Studio:
Midtown Theatre was created in 1998 when the troupe transformed a Hardees Restaurant on King Street into a black box theatre, where they thrived for several years. Midtown moved to James Island in 2007, when Sheri and her son, Ryan Ahlert, opened The Charleston Acting Studio. There, they taught theatre arts to children and adults while producing critically acclaimed, award-winning works in their 2 black box spaces. In 2015, Midtown & The Charleston Acting Studio moved to North Charleston into a beautiful facility on Azalea Drive.
What's Next:
Sheri, Ryan, and the entire Midtown Team are excited to re-invent themselves once again, this time in the North Charleston area! North Charleston is growing to become the next cultural & artistic hotbed in Charleston, and Midtown is ready to continue its legacy of entertaining, educating and showcasing talent in the Lowcountry. The Midtown Theatre is located at 2816 Azalea Dr inside the Duvall Catering & Events building. Stop on by to see the new space, take an acting class, or enjoy our latest production!
