Session Curriculum

This class focuses on using the body to express
emotion without supplementary facial expressions
or dialogue. We will be sampling several forms of
theatre, including Commedia del arte  and Kabuki,
to explore the different ways that movement can be
used to enhance characterization and expression.
Because disabling or transforming the use of the
face is central to discovering movement, masking
and makeup will be included in the course as well.
Also, we will learn basic skills that can be useful for
auditioning and performing in realms of theatre
outside of movement based disciplines.

Teen Acting Class
Tuesdays Beginning in August 2010
This class prepares teens for meatier roles by
introducing script and character analysis. We will
focus on using certain techniques to break down
two person scenes and monologues from modern
scripts that can be used for auditions. Also, we will
work on shedding the habits of young actors that
can carry over into the mature roles that young
adults are now eligible to play. This class will
provide a safe and friendly atmosphere for
teenagers hoping to strengthen their knowledge
and skills on stage. Class members will find they
have a leg up amongst their thespian peers with
their new tools and theatrical know how from the
Charleston Acting Studio!
